New to GMAT?
The Graduate Management Admission Council GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) is a standardized exam used for admission to MBAs and other graduate management programs.
Developed by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), the test evaluates skills considered essential for success in business education (quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning, critical thinking, and data analysis.)
The current version is the GMAT Focus Edition, although it has dropped the Focus name and now refers to itself as "GMAT".
It is computer-adaptive and typically takes just over 2 hours. It can be taken securely at home, or at a certified test center.
It consists of three sections:
1. Quantitative Reasoning, which tests math problem-solving and reasoning. It's the math you learned when you were 14 under time pressure with no calculator.
2. .Verbal Reasoning: consists of reading comprehension passages with groups of questions and short logical arguments called critical reasoning;
3. Data Insights, evaluates the ability to analyze and interpret data from graphs and figures.
Each section is scored separately, contributing to a total score ranging from 200 to 800. Highly ranked schools expect scores over 75th percentile, or over 600 (at least).
